Antique, Hand Forged, French Model 1866 Chassepot Yataghan Sword Bayonet & Scabbard.
Made by Fevier in 1874. Engraved, in script, on the blade top:

There  diamond shaped proof mark on the blade. Matching serial # on the scabbard and   bayonet #AB 828710
The yataghan sword bayonet was for use on the M-1866 Chassepot pin - fire rifle.
Named after its inventor, Antoine Alphonse Chassepot.
This bayonet is brass-hilted with a spring steel latch on the right side.
The cross guard is iron and has a screw-type tightening arrangement on the muzzle ring & hooked.
The blade is steel, single-edged, fullered on both sides with.
With a double curve yataghan shape.
