Sword bayonet with brass handle & scabbard made in St. Etienne for the French 1866 Chassepot rifle, well-marked. This has a magnificent shiny steel blade. Engraved “St. Etienne Juin 1871.” The sword & metal scabbard are stamped with matching numbers “O 24156”. The scabbard is blued. The quillion has 4 sharply-stamped control or proof marks on it, and there are 2 at the base of the blade. These bayonets were used by the French and other troops during World War I. This one has been well-kept over the years. Great for display on a wall or as part of a World War I presentation. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
