    Operational procedures
    1. Natural water content soil sample should be used in particle analysis test by densitometer method. Air-drying (drying) soil samples can also be used.
    2. For air-dried (dried) soil samples, 100-300 g of surface soil samples are replaced by a mortar, which is grinded with a rubber head. The dispersed soil is sifted through 2mm, and the soil on the sieve is dispersed and then sifted until only particles larger than 2mm are left on the sieve.
    3. Soil samples with particle size less than 2 mm were mixed evenly and weighed as samples.
    4. The prepared sample is poured into a triangular flask and immersed in pure water of about 200 cm 3 for more than 18 hours. The particle analysis test is carried out directly with natural water content soil samples without immersion or shortening the immersion time. After shaking slightly, boil in a sand bath. From the time of boiling, the clay and the soil which is not easy to disperse should be boiled for about 1 hour, and the other soil should be boiled for no less than 0.5 hours.
    5. After cooling, the sample is poured into the measuring cylinder for particle size test, the soil in the beaker is washed and all of it is poured into the measuring cylinder, then 10 cm 3 dispersant (4% sodium hexametaphosphate or 6% hydrogen peroxide or 1% sodium silicate) is added, and then clean water is added to 1000 cm 3.
    6. Mix up and down the whole suspension depth in the measuring cylinder for about 1 minute, 30 times each, so that the soil particles in the suspension are evenly distributed.
    7. Remove the agitator and start the stopwatch at the same time. Measure the densitometer readings at 1, 2, 5, 15, 30, 60, 120, 1440 minutes. The densitometer is put into the barrel about 15 seconds before each measurement. After reading, the densitometer is taken out. When reading, note that the bubbles of the densitometer should not be close to the wall of the measuring cylinder. The reading is the reading of the highest point of climbing the curved liquid level. The specific gravity of species A is 0.1, and that of species B is 0.0001. After reading, the suspension temperature was measured to 0.5 C.
    8. When the first reading is completed and the subsided soil has exceeded 15% of the total soil mass, the soil in the measuring cylinder is washed and sifted with 0.075 mm analytical sieve, and then the particle size analysis test of coarse-grained soil larger than 0.075 mm is carried out according to the sieving analysis method
