This vintage 1969 Bulova Accutron day-date has oodles of class and character. The black matte dial is in near pristine condition with
majority of the imperfections seen being on the crystal, not the dial.
The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue.
This reference never came with a bezel.
The all stainless steel
case shows minor wear and oxidation
. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "BULOVA STAINLESS STEEL CASE PATENTED" with "G213605" and "M9" stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "USE ONLY GENUINE ACCUTRON" followed by "CELL MARKED 218,""INSTALL WITH YELLOW SEAL,""TOWARD CASE BACK" and "(218 TOWARD DIAL)."
The crystal shows scratching and significant dust/debris on its underbelly.
While the time can be set without issue and the quickset day/date function works flawlessly the Bulova 2182
movement does not run.
The quickset day/date function works by manually rolling over a new day and date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 18 and 24 hour marks until the desired day and date has been reached. The Accutron signed
non-screwdown crown
pulls out and pushes back in as it should.
Given that the movement does not run this watch is being sold for parts/repair.
This watch measures approximately 34 mm excluding the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 7 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm.
Given that the movement does not run this watch is being sold for parts/repair. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
For this watch that time is now.
Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
