Vintage Mortens Studio Seated Boxer Puppy Dog Figure Mid Century

Up for consideration designed by Mortens Studio in the 1940's. This sitting Boxer pup is 2 3/4" tall x 3 1/2" long x 1 3/4" wide . He is not in perfect condition and does have some small paint flakes or chips to his body and paws. There is 2 obvious little paint chips that can be seen in photos. Also, on his left side of body,someone touched up two other spots, that I just noticed.His front paws under close inspection show some roughness to his toe nails...but isn't noticeable until you look very close. Over all, this is an acceptable shelf sitter or collectible in my opinion. It would fit into any collection. It was given to me by someone who thought it was a Boston Terrier and I have had it for many years. It's time for a new home.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples, like this one, Please enlarge and review all photos for description and condition.
